No, our program offers rebates for energy-efficient equipment you choose to purchase that meets program guidelines listed here.
Installing energy-efficient equipment through SD EnergyEdge can be broken down into five steps:
- Authorize SD EnergyEdge or one of our recommended contractors to survey your business location(s) you would like to install equipment at
- After surveying the site, your contractor will provide a proposal of work as well as a letter of authorization (LOA) allowing the rebate to be paid to them, making your upgrade cheaper or sometimes even no-cost, depending on equipment type. You will sign the LOA, which states that the contractor can sign the SD EnergyEdge program application on your behalf.
- Once you sign the LOA and the project is approved, your contractor will install the new equipment at your facility.
- Your contractor and the SD EnergyEdge team then work together to submit your rebate application. We will handle all of the paperwork for you.
- SDG&E will do a quick on-site post-inspection to confirm the equipment was installed and is working properly.
The goal is to help businesses reduce their energy use which will help everyone in the community. SD EnergyEdge is funded through Public Purpose Program (PPP) contributions on your bill, as mandated by the California Public Utilities Commission, which allows us to offer no-cost services to commercial businesses participating in PPP funding. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by TRC or SD EnergyEdge.
We offer rebates to qualifying commercial customers in retail, office, wholesale, entertainment, and other businesses who are SDG&E® customers to help them install energy-saving equipment at their facilities. We also offer no-cost technical inspections to help identify energy savings and contractor recommendations to help you perform the work.
To see what equipment is eligible for rebates, please visit our rebates page. Many ENERGY STAR® appliances and equipment qualify for a rebate. However, ENERGY STAR certification is not required for equipment to be eligible for a rebate. For specific questions on qualifying equipment, please feel free to call us at 844-600-2367 or email connect@sdenergyedge.com
Please visit our rebate page to find more information about eligible equipment types, program guidelines, and financing options.
If your equipment is eligible for a rebate, and the invoices are dated within 90 days (about 3 months) of the application submission date, then you can apply for a rebate after the equipment is installed. If the project does not qualify for a rebate but does qualify for a custom incentive, it will need to receive pre-approval before any equipment is purchased or installed.
The SD EnergyEdge program does not currently incentivize these types of projects. Visit www.sdge.com to learn more about renewable energy equipment.
Yes, if you are a tenant and SDG&E account holder you can apply for a rebate. If the tenant is not the account holder, the building owner/SDG&E account holder would need to sign the application providing consent to ensure that they are aware of the changes taking place in their building.
Any business owner or customer representative can start the application process by filling out the project initiation form. We will get in touch with you to go through next steps. The full application will be filled out by an SD EnergyEdge account manager or the project contractor.
An SD EnergyEdge account manager can help you calculate the energy savings for your project. Please feel free to call at 844-600-2367 or contact us here.
